Hypnosis for smokers who wish to become non-smokers.
Mark cannot make you stop smoking - that is a guarantee. He cannot make you do anything – where would that end if he could? You are doing the smoking – only you can do the stopping. What Mark can do is make it very easy for you to do this thing which you always thought was going to be very difficult, he can also give you very good reasons for wanting to do this thing. He does this by helping you to bring about a slight change in your character; no longer will you have the motivation to smoke – instead, you will have a lot of motivation not to smoke. No longer will you be a smoker, wanting or trying to give up but you will be a non-smoker. A smoker trying to give up is still a smoker – who is trying to give up but a non-smoker doesn’t smoke; there is no struggle, no unbearable turmoil and no effort – you will be just plainly and simply a non-smoker. Think about it – there is a huge difference and now you can see why you have not managed it in the past.

How does it work? Well there are two approaches: suggestion therapy and analytical therapy. If you want to stop smoking, you already recognise that smoking is a piece of abnormal behaviour and you want to be free of it. You want to be free of its influence and control over your life, you want to be free of its poisonous effect on your body and you want those around you to be free of its poisonous effect.

Don’t just think about passive smoking, think about children losing a loved parent who is only in their late thirties – won’t happen to you? – smoking kills one in three people who smoke. Do you still think you feel good when you have a cigarette? That is because the nicotine, which takes seven seconds from inhalation to reach your brain, does do one thing to make you feel good; it makes your brain release dopamine, a ‘feel good’ neurotransmitter, into your blood. This makes you feel comfortable and at ease – whilst your body’s stress levels will be about ten times higher by the end of the cigarette. Your extremities will be colder, your metabolism will have slowed or shut down, your arteries will have constricted, your heartbeat will have increased by about an extra ten thousand beats per day, for a twenty-a-day smoker to cope with this, because of this, your blood pressure will have gone up and your brain will have been made to release, without reason, a cocktail of dozens of other hormones and chemicals into your blood while one of them makes you feel good. Aah, there’s nothing like a relaxing smoke, is there? If somebody did this to you, you would sue them; you would want to see them in jail.

When you started reading this, you probably wanted to stop for ‘health’ reasons – shortage of breath, coughing or you ‘knew’ it was doing you no good or maybe you wanted to stop for financial reasons – most people could finance a car with the money a smoker can find to burn, each month or maybe your place of work is non-smoking. Perhaps you have tried before, your doctor, patches, lozenges or even cold turkey. Most likely, hypnosis is probably your last resort. This is usual but so un-necessary; the largest study in the U.S. into the effectiveness of different methods or giving up smoking show that the least effective is advice from your doctor, then will power – cold turkey, then patches, lozenges etc. and, by a long way, the most effective way to give up smoking is with the help of hypnosis.

Anyway, here you are – so what’s next? Don’t forget, Mark can’t make you do anything. Well, suggestion therapy takes place after being guided into deep relaxation and is appropriate if your smoking is just a habit. When you are so relaxed, your subconscious is also relaxed and it is from here that your emotions and your character come from. If you really want to stop, after guiding you into deep relaxation, Mark can give you many, many suggestions connected with becoming a non-smoker; these suggestions will be taken into your subconscious and if you accept them, your character will change slightly and you will become a non-smoker. It’s as quick and as easy as that.

Everybody wants to do it the quick and easy way but if your smoking is being driven by something within your subconscious, your subconscious will not allow you to accept the suggestions. So, what then? – the answer is analytical hypnotherapy. This takes place over several sessions and whilst you are still guided into really deep relaxation, what Mark does is open the door to your subconscious. How this works is that your subconscious will let out stuff it has been keeping in for years, stuff it really doesn’t need to keep in. All of this comes out quite naturally, thoroughly and safely. Some of this stuff will have been hard work to keep in – in fact, such hard work that your subconscious will have given you a piece of abnormal behaviour (your smoking) to balance its efforts. When this comes out, your subconscious is relieved of its task, keeping it in and therefore no longer needs to make things balance and relieves you of the drive to carry out your piece of abnormal behaviour. No cause, no effect – you will no longer feel like smoking and you will stop; there is a bonus for having to go the long way – any other abnormal behaviour will have lost its cause, too.
